My kids are hikin' fools. I'll post some pictures sometime I'm sure.
Last summer, the family went to the Grand Canyon and we did some "Rim" hikes as well as some walks through the surrounding forest and a hike over at Walnut Canyon.
Before that, we hiked up to Timpanogos Cave with the boys. Andrew was often leading the charge and razzing everybody when they stopped to take a break. He helped pull the group up the mountain at a breakneck speed. :)
I took the boys on a Father/Son campout at the beginning of June up at Camp Zarahemla (pictures forthcoming). The "mountains" behind the camp are basically overgrown hills, but Andrew made sure to lead me to the top of the hill.
This past week, the family went to Mueller Park canyon for a hike with the church young women's group. Andrew and Jason were again leading the charge. Julia pushed right along with the boys and I at the lead of the pack for a large part of the hike. The boys were moaning with two of the girls when we were told it was time to turn around and head back down before we got caught up too high when the sun went down.
We're likely going to try Timp again this summer. Julia was too little last time, but we might try and take her up this time. The kids love getting out in the forest and cruise up the side of a mountain.
Tons of fun.
